Rizal Muhammad, Hidayatullah Muhammad Syarif, and Hafiz Muhammad all won gold medals in the men's team poomsae event.
Aziz Hidayat Tumakaka, a member of the Indonesian delegation, acknowledged his delight in leading Garuda to win the overall championship in this sport. Furthermore, the last match will decide whether Indonesia or Thailand will be the overall taekwondo champion, as both countries have identical points.
"Of course, I'm delighted to have won this gold medal. I worked really hard in the decisive match, as there was a lot of pressure and expectations. "In the end, Indonesia emerged as the overall champion," he told reporters.
Andra, the PIC of the taekwondo sport, stated that the tournament proceeded well from the technical meeting to the final match, which drew 21 participants and took place from July 2 to 6, 2024. He said that various technical issues, such as pick-up, transportation, hotels, and other accommodations, were expected so they were normal.
"Even though there are several obstacles, we have LOs who help to communicate this," stated him.
He felt lucky in recruiting LO, because several positions were filled by those who were competent and on target. He took advantage of colleagues from the Student Activities Unit (UKM) who often held events and had good English skills.
The challenge faced by him and the LO team is to first adapt to the culture of each different country. The character of each athlete and coach is different, some requests also need to be handled well so that they are comfortable while competing.
"From this activity we really learn what is called time discipline, because that is their ingrained culture, they don't want to be late either in terms of pick-up or training at the venue," he concluded.[*]
