The Fight for Beach Volleyball Medals Involving Five Delegations Was Fierce
MALANG-The Asean University Games XXI beach volleyball sports match which started on July 2, 2024 officially ended on July 6, 2024. Sports competition held at the beach volleyball court of Malang State University competed with 4 numbers followed by 5 countries, namely Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Timor Leste.
The Thai contingent managed to become the country that collected the most medals in this sport with 2 Gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze. Followed by Indonesia who got 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. The third position was won by the Philippines with 2 bronze medals.
One of the gold medalists from Indonesia, Muhammad Adjie Triantono felt very proud to have presented a gold medal to add to Indonesia's medal accumulation. "Yes, of course I am proud to have won a gold medal," he said.
Besides that, Nadine Angeli Berces, a bronze medalist from the Philippines, said that the Asean University Games is a very beneficial event for student athletes. For her, by participating in this competition, she can improve his skills and experience in facing opponents from other countries.
"I think AUG is a great event because it gives us exposure and experience for us as players.
Technical delegate, Bambang Eko Suhartawan said there were only three countries that followed the team number. "Only Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines sent 2 groups to follow the team number,” he explained.
In preparing the venue for the match, he continued, Bambang Eko made the field again so that the match could be held effectively. "If you don't make the field again, only one, the match can be finished until evening,” he said.
He also appreciated all the organizers who have contributed to the ongoing beach volleyball competition. "All parties involved are very supportive and work quickly,” he concluded.
