Winning over Malaysia, the Indonesian Futsal Team Leads Up to the semifinals of AUG 2024

SURABAYA–The Indonesian Futsal Team managed to take a 3-2 lead over Malaysia on
the second day of the 2024 Asean University Games (AUG) which took place at the
UNESA International Futsal GOR on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The victory over the
Malayan Tiger team ensured that Indonesia advanced to the semifinals.
Malaysia surprised Indonesia after
taking a quick lead in the 2nd minute of the match. The goal scored by M Haikal
left Indonesia 1-0 behind. However, after a few minutes, Indonesia managed to
equalize with a kick God
of Rizki Amanda. The position changed to 1-1.
The match is getting more exciting. Both teams exchanged
attacks. In the 10th minute, Indonesia managed to double their lead to 2 – 1 on
foot Muhammad
Agung Pandega from a
narrow gap.
In the 17th minute, Indonesia scored
another third goal through a free kick scheme executed by BRandyca
Piola. Until the
first half ended the temporary score remained 3 – 1.
In the second half, the tension of
the game was higher. Both teams have not managed to add goals. Three minutes
before the end of the match, the Malaysian team managed to reduce the goal
difference through an own goal Daffa Azzurri in the 39th minute. The
3-2 score lasted until the referee blew the long whistle.
Mohammad Riyoga, assistant team
coach for Indonesia, said that the match against Malaysia was a challenge in
itself for Indonesia.
Even though Garuda Muda managed to
win, several records need to be addressed. "Earlier there were things that
needed to be fixed, such as communication between players, and our defender was
caught off guard," he said.
The captain of the Indonesian team,
Dewa Rizki Amanda, said that in the future he will focus on providing the best
performance in the semi-final match. "We as players will work hard and
pray, of course, let the coach provide the evaluation," he said.
Rizki said that his team was
physically drained after playing two days in a row with tough opponents. "We
will take advantage of one day of rest before the semifinal match," he
