Singapore Create Surprises while Hosts Lead Sport Climbing

SURABAYA-Entering the second day of the 2024 ASEAN University Games (AUG) on 27 June 2024, rock climbing sports entered the "Lead" number round at the East Java KONI FPTI Wall, Surabaya. Indonesia is still perched as king, but fierce challengers come to shake.
In the day's competition, the Indonesian contingent managed to secure gold and silver positions. Alfiandi M. Ryan and Robiaturrochim Ahmad Hafid from the men's event, while Jannah Nur Diatul and Khalishah Nur won the women's event.
Meanwhile, the unexpected challenger from the Lion Country, Tan Philus Bai Rong won the bronze medal in the men's event. Also included was Tan Eilin, from the women's event.

In his interview, Phillus said that his success was quite unexpected as
he actually specialises more in bouldering. Nonetheless, he managed to take
third place in this leading climb.
Tan Philus Bai Rong also said that although his focus was not on the
rock climbing category, he still put in a lot of effort in the final to get
third place. He also aims to win the bouldering category the following day
after his climbing achievement.
Tan Philus Bai Rong also had a special motivation to participate in the
ASEAN University Games. "Because in the previous AUG, I came second in
bouldering. So, I am motivated to come back again, and again try to achieve
first place now," he added.
