Fierce Battle of 5 ASEAN Countries in the First Match of Volleyball at UNESA

Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA--The first
match of the ASEAN University Games (AUG) volleyball match brought together
contingent from Myanmar against Thailand, which took place on June 26, 2024, at
Gelanggang Pemuda, UNESA Campus 2 Lidah Wetan.
Women's number from the White
Elephant country dominated the match since the first half by winning 25-7
points over Myanmar. The fierce fight continued into the next round.
Although Myanmar had a 6-0 lead
over Thailand in the middle of the second half, Thailand with a slick teamwork
was able to overtake the position through the final result of 25-11 over
Myanmar.
In the third round, Thailand again
led the match with points 25-17 over Myanmar, it made the White Elephant team
successfully completed its first match in volleyball sports with a landslide
score without reply, namely 3-0 over Myanmar.
Thailand's superiority cannot be
separated from serve, passing, set, spike, block, jump serve, roll shot,
blocking, to technique back arrow attack which they launched so well.
Afterwards, the first match was
continued with the second match, the men's number from the Indonesian team
against the Malaysian team. Performing fiercely throughout the 5 rounds made
the Indonesian contingent conquer the Malaysian team with a final score of 3-2.
Then in the third match of the
men's number, there was a Thai contingent that faced the Singapore contingent.
The Thai men's volleyball team was
led by Coach Anuchate Dongdoumrom, and in 3 rounds, they were able to bulldoze
the Singapore contingent under the coaching of Coach Lim Puay Hwee with a final
score of 3-0.
The coach of the Thai women's
volleyball team, Surasak Supherm, is not stingy to share the secrets behind his
team's success in today's match. He reveals his strategy in motivating and
training his players.
“Our main key is to maximize the
potential of all players,” explained Surasak. “We trained all twelve players
with full dedication, making sure they were ready to perform at their best on
the pitch.”
One of Surasak's main focuses is to
strengthen the team's defensive strategy. "We trained hard to prepare for
the worst situation in the game," he said.
"We train them to anticipate
all possibilities and rotate players intelligently to restore the point
difference,” he added.
"This strategy proved to be
effective, the players showed great performance and were able to realize all
the exercises we have done,” Surasak said proudly.
This success not only made Surasak
proud, but also fueled his enthusiasm to achieve his next target. "We have
big ambitions to conquer the Indonesian team in the next round," he said
with optimism.
Surasak believes that with hard
work, dedication, and the right strategy, his team is able to achieve these
targets. He also praised his players for their hard work and dedication.
The journey of the Thai women's
volleyball team in this tournament is still long. However, with the leadership
of Surasak and the persistence of his players, they are ready to face various
obstacles and achieve victory after victory.[]
