Eight Countries Compete in Petanque Sports, Thailand and Laos Dominate the Inaugural Match

SURABAYA-Asean
Games University (AUG) Petanque Sport XXI 2024 was followed by teams from eight
countries, namely Indonesia, Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and
Thailand at the Petanque International Field, Faculty of Sports and Health
Sciences (FIKK), UNESA Lidah Wetan Campus on Wednesday (26/6/2024).
From
the results of the match, Indonesia won bronze, while gold was obtained by Laos
and Thailand in the category of women's singles and men's shooting.
In
the final round of the women's singles category, the Thai team met Sawinda
Jaemkrajang and Sirion Sarachip. The struggle for gold in that category is not
a high-risk thing, because whoever wins is also on behalf of their country.
As a result, Sawinda managed to win the gold and automatically give the silver medal to Sirion's hands. Meanwhile, the bronze medal was successfully acquired by Chindavone Sisavath for Laos.

Thailand's enthusiasm to bring home all the gold was dammed by Laos who was able to win gold in the men's shooting category. Vilasack Lathsavong performed epic when facing Thailand's mainstay player, Lattapol Pholwirat.
Vilasack
managed to observe bosi's throws from a distance of 6, 7, 8 and 9m well and got
points that were close to perfect. This patience led him to the acquisition of
gold with a final score of 36-26 over Laos.
Indonesia
as the host received a bronze medal presented by Harliza Muhammad Muhlis. In
this bronze fight, Muhlis met with Malaysian player Syed Ali Fakri. The
competition for the third position took place no less fierce.
The
reason, the difference in points between these two players is not so far,
30-23. The victory over Ali made Muhlis able to present bronze for Indonesia.
For
information, there are eleven categories competed in petanque AUG XXI 2024. The
other nine categories will also be contested at the same place, FIKK Petanque
International Field, Unesa Lidah Wetan Campus 2, Surabaya. []
