ASEAN Country Delegates Participate in AUG XXI 2024 Attend Welcoming Dinner with the East Java Provincial Government at Grahadi
SURABAYA--All
delegations of ASEAN member countries participating in the ASEAN University
Games (AUG) 2024 attended the welcoming dinner at the Grahadi State Building
held by the East Java Provincial Government, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
In
his speech, Adhy Karyono, The Acting Governor of East Java, said that the
spirit of togetherness that radiated on this night became a reminder that all
are part of the ASEAN big family. Through the AUG 2024 event, it is expected to
create a collaboration and strengthen friendship between ASEAN countries.
The acting governor of East Java invites athletes to enjoy the beauty and richness of East Java culture. On the sidelines of the match, take the time to explore various interesting tourist attractions in East Java, especially Surabaya and Malang, which are the locations for various sports tournaments.
"Enjoy
the culinary specialties of East Java are famous throughout the world. Enjoy
the hospitality and warmth of the people of East Java,” he said. Not to forget,
Adhy also advised athletes to uphold sportsmanship and fair play in matches.
“Achieve
the best achievements with fighting spirit and hard work sportsmanship. Let's
make AUG 2024 as an inspiring event of friendship and sportsmanship,” he said.
As his close statement, Adhy congratulated the entire contingent participating in AUG 2024. "Hopefully the athletes can enjoy the beautiful moments while in East Java. Once again, welcome and good luck,” he said.
President
of AUSC, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd. Ruslim Mohammed in his speech was honored in the
21st AUG dinner. He embraced the audience not only in celebration of the
outstanding achievements of the athletes, but also in recognition of the spirit
of brotherhood and unity among the ASEAN contingent.
He thanked to The Acting Governor of East Java who has sponsored and supported this activity. I am proud and honoured to be in East Java, which is famous for its rich cultural heritage. The AUSC President also emphasised the commitment to fostering excellence and friendship among the younger generation to university leaders and government officials.
The
AUG 2024 Welcome Dinner is a manifestation of the spirit of togetherness and
friendship among ASEAN countries. It is hoped that this event can produce
champions who excel and uphold the values of sportsmanship.
The
dinner was attended by all delegates from ASEAN countries participating in AUG
XXI 2024, officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of
Education and Culture, AUSC, KONI, East Java Provincial Government, City
Government, and other invited guests.[]
